Online shopping portals can be a great way to pick up additional miles & points for purchases you’d make anyway. For following a specific link you can earn bonus points in addition to the ones you’d earn for credit card spending.

The number of bonus points you earn per dollar spent varies greatly by retailer, though in addition to those variable bonuses, there are often promotions that are available on all purchases. We’ve just seen a few new portal bonuses introduced, which could be a great deal if you’re doing any online shopping.

Earn 3,700 bonus points with three portal bonuses

A few airline shopping portals are currently offering promotions for online purchases, should you have any shopping to do. If you’re going to make online purchases anyway, you might as well take advantage of these offers. Let’s go over what you need to know.

American AAdvantage eShopping bonus

American AAdvantage eShopping is offering up to 2,000 bonus miles when you spend $500+ through the portal by Sunday, May 15, 2022. Specifically, you can earn 400 bonus miles when you spend $50+, and 2,000 bonus miles when you spend $500+.

Note that base miles earned through AAdvantage eShopping are considered qualifying Loyalty Points, and can help you earn American AAdvantage elite status. However, the bonus as such wouldn’t count toward status.

Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping bonus

Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping is offering 500 bonus points when you spend $100+ through the portal by Sunday, May 15, 2022.

United MileagePlus Shopping bonus

United MileagePlus Shopping is offering up to 1,200 bonus miles when you spend $300+ through the portal by Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Specifically, you can earn 100 bonus miles when you spend $50+, 500 bonus miles when you spend $150+, and 1,200 bonus miles when you spend $300+.

Bottom line

Between these three shopping portal promotions you can earn up to 3,700 bonus points for spending $900. You can take advantage of each of these promotions, and each is based on your cumulative spending through a particular portal during the offer period. The bonus points should post within 10 weeks of when the promotions end.

If you make purchases in the right increments you could be earning over four bonus points per dollar spent, not even factoring in the points usually being offered through the shopping portals, plus the points you usually earn through credit card spending (make sure you’re using the best credit cards for everyday spending). That can add up.

Beyond airline shopping portal bonuses, also keep in mind that Rakuten is pretty awesome, as it offers a great bonus for new members, and you can earn Amex Membership Rewards points with the portal. Personally that’s what I use for most of my online purchases.
